Film Movies and Me

Ever since I was a kid I’ve going to the movies or watching them on TV.  When I attended USC several of my friends were in film school and I took a film class taught by Arthur Knight (he wrote the Sex in the Cinema column in Playboy).  I became interested in photography and film making.  For a short time I was a stand-in for Andy Williams on his TV show at NBC.  I worked in a recording studio.  The more I learned about image capture and moving images and sound the more I wanted to learn about the creative medium of film.  I became friends with a guy who had graduated from the UCLA school of film and also had become a Director’s Guild Trainee.  He invited me onto sets.  Once he got me a bit part in a movie, Surf II.  It was a bad movie but working on set and location for 2 weeks at $100 per day was fun and educational too.

Are you also member of SLFF? Nice to have a fishing friend who also loves movies. I co-founded Camera Cinemas (www.cameracinemas.com) with my partner in 1975. Now living in Morro Bay and love long range and fly fishing. Hope to see you at one of our meetings to introduce myself

    • Hi James, sorry it’s taken so long to reply but I haven’t checked comments on the blog in a long time. I was a member of the SLFF but dropped out for various reasons. Are you thinking about coming to the next films series I put on?
