Sci-Fi Week at the Palm Theatre on 9-17 12:30pm

We didn’t have time to talk much about “Sunset Boulevard” or “Rashomon” last week so if anyone wants to we can do a little of that.

This week is science fiction week with the Robert Wise (Sound of Music, Run Silent Run Deep, Sand Pebbles and many others) directed “The Day the Earth Stood Still” and a sneak preview of Howard Hawk’s “The Thing from Another World” with James Arness as The Thing (you won’t recognize him).

The Day the Earth Stood Still is widely acclaimed as one of the most influential sic-fi films of the 1950s.  It won a Golden Globe Award for “Best Film Promoting International Understand”.
