1st class of the Fall series – The Great Dictator

We had a good size attendance for the showing of Chaplin’s first “talkie” film, The Great Dictator.  Released in 1940 it was nominated for 5 academy awards but won none.  With co star Paulette Goddard (also his wife) the film mocks Hitler and Nazi Germany.

Thanks to Jim Dee and Palm Theatre staff for making it possible to have the class at a theatre right here in SLO.  Nothing like watching a movie in a real theatre.  seeing these old films on TV isn’t the same!

Next week . . . Going My Way starring Bing Crosby
